"THE HAND IN THE ATACAMA DESERT" - San Pedro De Atacama

SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA DESERT (a desert in chile enriched with few centre of attractions for travellers and adventurers) is located a few kilometers from the city SAN PEDRO; it borders Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.

FACTS OF THE ATACAMA DESERT

• It borders Peru, Bolivia and Argentina
• It is listed as the driest Non-Polar desert in the world
• Atacama desert is located over high altitudes, above 2,500 meters above sea level

It is protected from the prevailing winds by the Andes; this prevents the desert from the cool breeze and makes the desert more hotter.

HAND IN THE DESERT

• The sculpture was created in the early 1980s and inaugurated in 1992.
• This attracted sculpture became sought-after tourist centre for Travellers visiting ATACAMA DESERT in Chile.
• The Hand in the desert was the work of the Chilean Sculptor 'Mario Irarrazabal' who responded to the call of the government then which felt the desert should not be idle.
• Mario Irarrazabal graved the sculpture of 36-Foot-Tall Hand protuding out of the sand 'like a giant crying out for help' with its base made of concrete.
